THE harrowing mayday call of a French coastguard can be heard in this footage, moments before 31 people drowned as migrants attempted to cross the English Channel yesterday.

This morning - in the wake of yesterday's deadly disaster - a number of shivering people were seen being led ashore at Dover after they were rescued by the RNLI.

Footage showed Border Forces patrolling the surrounding areas for migrants on board jetskis.
