Someone out there commented on how it sounds like all the Disney characters are singing… the inspiration struck me and never left. Bless all the creatives and artists who’ve contributed to a 100-year legacy.
I tried to feature as much as possible, but I only had to draw the line at Walt Disney Animation Studio. They had to be purely animation and feature length. And as much as some of its direct-to-DVD features are some of my favorite (Bambi 2, Little Mermaid 2, Lady and the Tramp 2, Tigger Movie), I did only theater releases. There’s only enough room in this song lol. But even with the limits I found a lot of fun doing this.
I wanted to start off obviously with a shot of WISH, making it feel like Asha is singing to her predecessors. That's why the next two films are Snow White and Little Mermaid. The former being the studio’s first feature and the latter starting its renaissance era.

From then on, every film I matched to a lyric. Especially if the movie’s iconic moment matched it perfectly like Treasure Planet and Pocahontas. Some moments I featured were personally iconic to me or it matched the message of the movie like Dinosaur and Raya and the Last Dragon (Dino’s Stand Together is such a core memory to me). I often would try to feature movies in order of release when sharing a line of song lyrics.

Sequels were an interesting thing to do as I put them side by side with their originals. My favorite was the Rescuers and Rescuers Down Under as their lyrics matched so seamlessly together (and the Down Under flying scenes are also a core memory).

For those I struggled to fit a lyric, I’m glad they found a place in the instrumentals. And yes, perhaps the Brother Bear/Tarzan moment was a nod to Phil Collins. His music had such an impact on the kind of music I like in films (I’m not a musical person. I’m more of a music montage with heart kind of gal). But it’s mostly because Tarzan is my favorite film of all time. The animation and story resonate so deeply with me.

And to end with Fantasia was definitely something I wanted to do right from the beginning. I grew up surrounded by classical music. I hope you enjoy!

Song: “This Wish” Reprise from Disney’s WISH
I DO NOT OWN THE SONG or any Disney movies. This is purely for fun.
