I became a mom at 49. We adopted our daughter, Ani, from Bogota, Colombia when she was 15 years old. This is the story of how her adoption came to be back in 2017.

In celebration of Mother's Day, I wanted to share our personal story. Families are created in many different ways. Ours was a very non-traditional path and I wouldn't have had it any other way.

Older adoption is not very popular for many reasons. I want to de-stigmatize the myths around older adoption as it could be a great way for you to form your family some day.
