Today is a very special day. Not only is it the day we review the fourth medium van built on the PSA Group’s EMP2, but we finally get a Toyota commercial vehicle review on to the YouTube channel – so say hello to a very nice-spec Toyota Proace medium panel van!

What’s that you say? It looks a lot like the Vivaro, Expert and Dispatch? Well, yes, but the ones we reviewed were not as high spec as this Proace.

At the "Design" trim level there are lots of extras to enjoy – some of which you’ll no doubt have noticed and started licking your lips about – check out those alloys – so let’s get this Vanarama Road Test started!

Before we get started, we just wanted to take a moment to say that we hope you enjoy watching this review, and, if you do, please subscribe to our channel & click the bell to get notified when we post more content just like this.
And don’t forget that if you’re ever in the market for a new van or pickup truck, head to Vanarama.com! Now, with that done… let’s get stuck in!

In our opinion, this is one of the best-looking EMP2 platform sharers. Toyota have done a good job making it feel like their van even though it shares SOOO much with 3 other vans on the market right now. But it has:
• Front parking sensors & rear parking sensors
• Front fog lights
• Body-coloured bumpers*
• 17" machined-face alloy wheels (5-double-spoke)
• Body-coloured door mirrors
• Body-coloured door handles
• Smart Entry + Push-button Start
• Toyota Safety Sense (Pre-Collision System with pedestrian detection, Adaptive Cruise Control, Cornering Lights, Head-Up Display and Acoustic and Athermic Windscreen
• Toyota Pro-Touch 7" screen with navigation, voice recognition and Wi-Fi connectivity
• White TFT screen
• Blind Spot Monitor (BSM)
• Smart Entry & Push-button start

Nice kit… but let’s check the loading bay before we head out on the road.
Back Door height: 1.2m
Back Door width: 1.2m
Side Sliding Door height: 1.2m
Side Sliding Door width: 0.9m
Load Space Length: 2.5m
Load Space Smart Cargo Length: 3.6m
Load Space Height: 1.4m
Load Space Width: 1.6m
Load Space Width (between arches): 1.25m
Loading bay volume: 5.8m3
Maximum payload (2.0-litre engine): 1400kg
Number of Euro pallets: 3

Engine: 2.0 Diesel (180 DIN hp), 8-Speed Automatic
Fuel Economy: 36.2-39.2 mpg
Acceleration (0–62 mph): 8.5 seconds

So, how do we finish this one?

Well, the Toyota Proace is as functional as its brethren from the PSA Group. Spacious, great payload, solid and smooth drive, nice gear box, etc, etc, you’ve heard it all before.
But one thing that does stick with us is the excellent trim level we got to review. We’ve had several low trim levels in recently, and it was great to see such a high-quality interior matched by an excellent and attractive exterior.
We can get behind the Proace, and we can get behind Toyota pushing the PSA Group to let them make their version as “Toyota” as possible. This is a great medium van that we'd have no hesitation in recommending to anyone.
