A few extra details on chain waxing:

I'm using Silca secret chain blend wax which is a high end performance wax. It lasts longer and has better efficiency (due to additives), but regular paraffin wax can also work, and is cheaper (https://amzn.to/3DqlJui) or (https://amzn.to/3DpHIkW)

I'm using a cheap vintage croc pot from value village. It cost around $7. A cheap one on amazon is something like this (https://amzn.to/3DmlaBy)

I'm using Silca chain stripper to clean the factory oil off the chain. This is a new product that is quite unique and designed specifically for prepping chains for wax. More details on their site.
If you're not using this product, its common to use multiple rounds of mineral spirits followed by multiple rounds of isopropyl alcohol to get the chain oil free. Fuel (like gasoline or diesel) can also be used

Older chains need to be cleaned more then newer chains, so the amount of cleaning time will vary depending on your chain. You may find a benefit from using an ultrasonic cleaner for used chains (https://amzn.to/3XYMQ9b)

Cleaning your drivetrain (front gears, rear gears, and derailleur pulley wheels) is also a good idea to make sure there is no old oil or grease on your bike. Use a cloth with isopropyl alcohol or degreaser

Shimano recommends replacing your quick link every time you remove it (https://amzn.to/3rCemgH). Its at your own risk you reuse the quick link, but many have done this successfully. You can also use a connex link instead, which can be infinitely reused (https://amzn.to/3K9CFJ1)

You should be able to ride your hot waxed chain for 500km with no need for any maintenance. The way I like to recommend it is at 500km and 750km, you apply a wax drip lube on the bike (https://amzn.to/45eDOXT). Then at 1000km, you re hot wax
