Describes the materials necessary and preferred method of stringing Miraculous Medals. Updated version with detailed teaching aid (2013-07-23).

How to String Miraculous Medals

1. Cut off a piece of string 31 inches in length. [*If you can find a box or other object that has a perimeter of 31 inches, you can wrap the string around it multiple times and then cut the lengths of string all at once. Usually 50 lengths of the string at a time work best.]
2. If the medal comes with a link, remove it.
3. With a file, widen the hole attached to the medal to make it easier to pass the string through it.
4. Singe the ends of the string using the flame of a candle. [*Be sure to immediately rub the singed end between your fingers to prevent the end from becoming to large to pass through the hole of the medal.]
5. Using a rosary making tool, make your standard 'rosary knot' wrapping the string around the tool twice before running the string through the groove of your rosary tool, and thus through your knot. [*Be sure not to tighten the knot. The knot should be about one and half inches from the end of the string.]
6. Put the 'knot' end of the string through the hole of the medal, inserting the stirng from the back of the medal to the front.
7. Pass the same end of the string back through the 'rosary knot.'
8. Now take the other end of the string and also pass it through the 'rosary knot.' It should be inserted in the entrance furtherest from the medal.
9. Ensure that the string is not twisted, and that the medal will hang down nicely when worn around the neck.
10. Tighten the knot.
11. Cut the excess string. [*There should only be about an inch of wasted string.]
12. Singe the ends of the string you just cut to produce a nice appearance and to prevent the string from being ripped through the knot if tugged on. [*If you pat the freshly singed string against the knot with your finger, the end should spread a bit and form a little 'cap' which will prevent the string from being pulled back through the knot]
13. Make a slip knot or even a loose regular knot with the string and place it in the ziplock packet along with the Miraculous Medal pamphlet.
14. Congratulations you have just made a powerful instrument which our Immaculate Mother Mary will use to convert, sanctify, and rescue souls. Please be sure to pray for those who will receive and wear these Miraculous Medals. May Jesus and Mary reward you abundantly. Ave Maria!
