In 1602, rumours began to circulate around the village of Trenčín, present-day Slovakia: Peasant girls looking for servant work in the Csejte Castle were vanishing. Many looked to Countess Elizabeth Bathory while seeking the truth about the mysterious disappearances.
She has been described as the most vicious female serial killer in all recorded history. Where fact ends and fiction begins in this terrifying story is now impossible to determine, some even think she was a vampire with supernatural powers, but there are also truth seekers who put forward the theory that powerful men fabricated those stories and committed the outrages on those girls, to seize her wealth.
We will look at both sides of the story in this video.
