The Minnesota Golden Gophers took a 4-0 lead in the first inning and never surrendered the advantage on the way to a 9-6 win against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Saturday.

Freshman Macy Richardson (5-4) got the win for Minnesota (23-20, 9-7). The right-hander went 6.1 innings, giving up six runs, all of them earned, on 11 hits, allowing two walks and striking out one.

At the plate, the Golden Gophers were led by senior Delanie Cox, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a triple and three RBI. Junior Taylor Krapf put together a noteworthy effort as well, going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Senior Sydney Strelow also contributed for Minnesota, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding a double, two walks and an RBI.
