In 2021, UNICEF launched the Centre of Excellence on Data for Children with Disabilities, an initiative designed to fill data gaps, facilitate coordination and provide technical expertise in the field. The Centre's mission is to empower stakeholders to make timely and informed decisions that positively impact the lives of children with disabilities. This is achieved through engaging in a wide variety of activities, drawing on the principles of partnership, innovation and inclusivity.

On April 25, 2023, the Centre held its second open house, featuring a presentation by Jaclyn Yap on a data analysis project she led, with support from the Centre. The project explored parenting practices among families of children with and without disabilities in low- and high-conflict affected areas. Jaclyn’s presentation highlighted the importance of leveraging data insights to drive positive change. In addition to the presentation, updates were shared on the Centre's ongoing efforts to foster the collection, analysis and use of data to improve the lives of children with disabilities.
