पिछले कुछ वर्षों में धान की खेती करने वाले किसानों के सामने कई मुश्किलें आ रहीं हैं। जैसे कम बारिश से उनकी फसल प्रभावित होती है, खरीफ के बाद रबी की फसलों में भी देरी हो जाती है। लेकिन अब किसानों की ये मुश्किल भी आसान हो सकती है। वैज्ञानिकों ने धान की एक किस्म malviya manila sinchit dhan 1 विकसित की है जो सिर्फ 115 से 118 दिनों में तैयार हो जाएगी।

"बीएचयू और आईआरआरआई फिलीपींस के वैज्ञानिकों ने मिलकर इस किस्म को विकसित किया है। इस किस्म की खास बात यह कि यह 115-118 दिनों में पककर तैयार हो जाती है। यही नहीं इतने कम दिनों में इसका औसत उत्पादन 55 से 64 कुंतल प्रति हेक्टेयर मिलता है। इतने कम दिनों में इतना उत्पादन देने वाली कोई दूसरी किस्म नहीं है।"

अभी तक जो भी कम दिनों की किस्में हैं, उनके दाने बहुत मोटे हैं, लेकिन इसके चावल की लंबाई 7.0 मिलीमीटर और मोटाई 2.1 मिमी है। यह एक लंबा और पतले दाने वाला चावल है। ये किस्म बासमती किस्म की नहीं है, फिर भी इसके चावल के दाने बिल्कुल बासमती की तरह लगते हैं।

So far, the varieties with fewer days have thick grains, but the length of its grains is 7.0 millimeters, and the thickness is 2.1 millimeters. It is a long and slender grain rice. This variety is not of the Basmati type, yet its grains resemble Basmati rice.
