The Non-Canon Expert looks at why even though Darth Vader was confident he would one day become equals with his Master Darth Sidious, and planned from the earliest weeks of the Imperial era to surpass and overthrow his Sith Master, Darth Vader was never able to achieve this goal to become Emperor of the galaxy himself, explaining why this was ultimately the result for Darth Vader even by the time of Episode 6: Return of the Jedi.

This is a Legends story for Darth Vader and Darth Sidious with information found in a number of Legends sources, but primarily within the Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith novelization, "Star Wars: Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader," "Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of Darth Vader," "Star Wars: Death Star," and the Episode 6: Return of the Jedi novelization. I hope that you enjoy it!
