Hey Guys! Welcome back to Jackie’s Southern Soul. In this video I will show you how I make Pigs Feet Aretha Franklin style. I watched the Genius Aretha Franklin story and I have to say that I loved every bit of her story the happy and the sad. There was always a lot of cooking going on in the parts when she was visiting home. Her cooking pigs feet is the closest complete recipe that was shown in the whole series so of course I had to try it out. It’s said that Aretha was a wonderful cook it’s so sad that we didn’t get to see it. This is my tribute to her, our forever Queen of Soul!

Aretha’s Pigs Feet:
8 Split Pigs Feet, throughly cleaned
1 Envelope Lipton Onion Soup Mix
3 Ribs Celery, chopped
1 Tablespoon Seasoning Salt
1 Teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes
2 Smoked Ham Hocks, optional

After you have cleaned the pigs feet put them in the pot with water just covering them. Bring them to a boil and let them cook for 30 minutes. Pour off the water and rinse them again. Place them back in the pot and add enough water to cook the pigs feet. It should take a little less than a gallon. Add the remaining ingredients to the pot and bring to a boil. Cook over medium heat for 2 1/2 hours then remove the lid. Increase the heat to medium high until the pigs feet have cooked down with almost no liquid remaining. Taste to see if you need to add additional seasoning. Serve with rice and black eyed peas. Enjoy!
