@MotorTrendWatch invited me out to their Car of the Year testing to see what cars were under consideration, how they do their testing and also try out some of the cars! It was super cool seeing how involved and thorough the testing is, plus all the various criteria different cars are evaluated against.
There are 6 different judged criteria: safety, value, advancement in design, engineering excellence, efficiency, and performance of intended function. This is how something like this BMW M2 can be compared to a Toyota Prius, not directly to each other, rather against how they should perform with the given criteria.

This was my first time getting to try out the latest generation of the BMW M2, which definitely has some controversial styling cues. But looking beyond the boxy aggressive exterior, we have a familiar turbocharged inline 6, available manual transmission and RWD. Let's find out how this new M2 feels dynamically on track against a G80 M3/M4 and previous generation M2!
