Mr Johnson has taken questions from Sir Keir Starmer, the Labour leader, amid uncertainty about when Sue Gray's own report into events at Downing Street will be published.

Sir Keir Starmer accused Boris Johnson of having "gone into hiding" over the Downing Street party allegations when he did not appear in public for six days.

Starmer brands Johnson "unable to lead the country, incapable of doing the right thing and every day his Cabinet fail to speak out, they become more and more complicit".

Boris Johnson's response? "We love this country and are doing everything in our power... Of course he wants me out of the way. Many people may want me out of the way, but he wants me out of the way because he knows this Government can be trusted to deliver."
