Striped bass can be found in Lake Travis, however they are very tricky to catch. They don't behave like they do in the other Highland Lakes that are home to Striper. During the summer month I am able to consistently find them, but typically they are pretty deep. In order to give them a chance at being released you need to "fizz" the fish.

To do so you use a hypodermic needle to puncture the swim bladder and vent it. This does not harm the fish, in actuality it saves their life. When you bring these fish up from deep water quickly they are unable to equalize themselves. They get the bends just like a diver does when they surface too quickly.

Use this tip to help you save any fish you catch deep!
