Tesla CEO Elon Musk Makes Surprise Visit To China After Postponing India Trip

Tesla CEO Elon Musk made an unannounced visit to China on April 28. Musk’s surprise visit comes after he postponed his trip to India, citing "heavy obligations" at Tesla. During his visit to Beijing, Musk met with Chinese Premier Li Qiang. Musk is reportedly seeking approval for Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) software to be rolled out in China. The visit comes at a time when Tesla is facing challenges including declining sales, intensified competition, and safety concerns around its self-driven vehicles. During his visit, Musk also met with a government official who heads the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the organiser of the Beijing auto show. Meanwhile, a top Chinese auto association has published a list of 76 car models it said it had tested and found to be compliant with China's data security requirements, among them being Tesla's Model Y and 3 cars.
