How to check & stop engine blowby with a balloon. Many years ago a old timer shared this trick with me & i would like to pass it on to the future generations. blowby can cause oil consumption even cause oil seal to leak.
since all cars have blowby the first place to start is to see how bad the blowby is. so how much blowby is to much?

you can slow down or stop leaks even increase compression as cylinder rings are worn with excessive wear because thats the cause of blowby. The pcv system or pcv valve other wise know as positive crankcase ventilation system is mean to stop poor emissions by rerouting the blowby into the intake to be reused for the combustion chamber process. one of many problems can be solved check and clean the pcv valve. Also here on Nates interactive auto NIA how much blowby is ok? direct injection engine or gdi can accumulate carbon buildup on the intake valves as a result because the blowby has oil vapor and a oil catch can could help. so if you are burning oil or see black smoke make sure to check previous videos as i show how to stop or fix the problem at the least slow down oil burning. loss of power poor performance fuel economy mpg. how can you tell if there is to much blow by?
