For a long time, Ukrainian and Russian troops have been fighting for control of important cities. A separate battle is being waged to ensure that Ukraine gets complete internet connectivity. "Web traffic has plummeted across Ukraine, notably in locations with the most intense Russian military presence," according to NetBlocks, an internet monitoring company. Because a big portion of the population has already fled Ukraine, just a few people may use the internet services there right now.

The Russian army, according to the report, has been damaging Ukraine's digital infrastructure. The Minister of Ukraine's Government has issued a public request to Tesla CEO Elon Musk. As a result, Elon Musk announced on Saturday, February 26 that his satellite internet company (Starlink) will expand its services to Ukraine.

Starlink employs low-earth orbit satellites to deliver Internet connectivity to areas where there are no operational web infrastructures, such as fiber optic cables or cell towers. Starlink's creator, SpaceX, recently announced the debut of a new price plan that boosts data transfer speeds from 150 to 500 megabits per second. The typical tariff's speed ranges from 50 to 250 megabits per second.
