Facebook has launched a new cryptocurrency called Libra. It is uses a distributed ledger, via a blockchain, but it is very different to BitCoin's blockchain. For starters it is a permission based blockchain (not a permissionless) and it doesn't use proof of work. So there will be no mining for Libra coin!
