For All Mankind season 2 episode 10 has been released on Apple TV+. The season finale of the second season was a strong finish. We picked up with a complicated setup with multiple crises. The Soviets have attacked Jamestown Base after the American marines killed a cosmonaut. Pathfinder is escorting Seadragon in lunar orbit because it’s threatened by the Soviet shuttle Buran which is enacting a blockade. Earth is on the brink of nuclear war as the USSR has moved its Northern Fleet near Central America.

At JSC Margo (Wrenn Schmidt) and Molly (Sonya Walger) are overseeing Apollo Soyuz. Each time when they are ready to dock Sergei says the Soviets need more time. Ellen (Jodi Balfour), and (John Marshall Jones) are monitoring the Pathfinder mission. They will be out of communication when the two shuttles encounter each other, and their last order is to protect Seadragon at all costs.

Things get intense in episode 10 with Ed Baldwin (Joel Kinnaman) still upset about his wife Karen’s (Shantel VanSanten) affair. Ed seems determined to follow his orders and complete his mission, but his wife’s words about living in the grey influence him. Sally Ride refuses his order to weapons lock Buran, and she tries to get him to stop by pulling her gun. Ed eventually regains control, but decides to destroy Seadragon instead of Buran.

In episode 10 Dani (Krys Marshall) refuses to abort the Apollo Soyuz docking maneuver. She reaches out to the cosmonauts on Soyuz and they decide to go ahead. Ellen decides to back them up when she finds out. The handshake in space turns out to be the thing that President Reagan and Premier Andropov can use to sign a treaty to stop World War III from breaking out.

On the Moon Tracy (Sarah Jones) and Gordo (Michael Dorman) make a heroic attempt to save Jamestown Base. After the marines failed to force the Soviets out, some stray bullets hit the primary cooling pump. Gordo and Tracy go into the vacuum of space to fix the problem, and it costs them their lives.

After the war is avoided we see a public funeral for the fallen astronauts. We learn that Sergei was prompted by Soviet intelligence to extend an invitation for Margo to meet him at a conference, and that she’s thinking about going. We also see a stinger scene that jumps ahead to 1995 and travels to Mars. There we see the boots of an astronaut standing on the surface.
