Have Ian and Nina called it quits?
Oh no! Us Weekly reports today that one of my absolute favorite couples has headed to splitsville.
After over three years together, the tabloid has a source who confirms the heartbreaking news. Of the surprising break-up, the source said Nina and Ian are QUOTE: "consummate professionals," and that they will QUOTE: "continue to work together and remain best friends, which is where the relationship started."
Aw, man.
The couple first took their relationship public back in 2011, and fans of their hit CW show, The Vampire Diaries, have been rooting for them since day 1.
While this news is definitely bumming me out, I thought I'd reminisce on some happier Nina/Ian times, for example... when Dobrev talked about Ian with Seventeen magazine last fall. She said QUOTE: "I didn't want to be dating one of my costars... But sometimes you can't help who you have a connection with, and you can only fight it for so long -- which I did for a really, really long time."
The pair famously traveled all around the world together -- hitting up the Coachella Music Festival several times, spending this past Easter together in Toronto... They've been to Monte Carlo together -- and Sundance. Just a month ago, they even pulled an all-nighter at the vet taking care of their kitty cat, Moke.
I do have to note that Nina has been spending tons of time with her new BFF, Julianne Hough -- so maybe she was just in need of some quality girl time lately..... perhaps this is just break. Stay positive, right?
Fans are definitely bummed though -- Jane Bartholomew tweeted QUOTE: "Please tell me it isn't true about the Nina and Ian split"
While Emma Theriault said: "I am unreasonably and embarrassingly upset about Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder breaking up, considering the fact that I don't know them..."
