Being a parent for me becomes more rewarding as time goes on with my two children. Whether it is because they are maturing nicely, just growing up or I’m becoming more sentimental, I can’t be sure. The pleasure of witnessing close hand their determination, fight and guts to overcome profoundly moves me. They are conquering life before me.

This beautiful journey up Olympus with Rebecca was so indicative of all that I’ve just said. It’s not an easy climb. The air gets thin at the top. There are precipices where you know that with one bad slip you’re a goner.

What you see is not the pretty side of the climb. It is exactly how it felt watching my daughter climb and overcome together with me.

Now we have the memory to cherish forever.
