We drove up to Roman Nose Lakes near Bonners Berry Idaho, about 2 hours from our home in Sandpoint, with the intent of trying to dive in an alpine lake at 6000ft elevation for the first time. We've never heard of anyone diving in this lake before so it's a totally new adventure and we're not sure what to expect.

It's one of the few alpine lakes around with driving access to within 100 yards of the lake, and has a boardwalk to the water, making it easy to carry in gear. The road up is rough forest service road but traversible even in passenger car by going slowly and picking your line around rocks and ruts.
