There are different types of innovation. Innovation is not just invention. Dan Breznitz asks us to challenge our view of what innovation is and what it is not. In this talk, Dan dives into why we might not want to focus on the Silicon-Valley model of innovation and explore the alternatives instead - hint: your bicycle offers a good example. To achieve economic prosperity, we must expand our views and ideas about innovation to be able to identify the best growth strategy for our communities. Dan Breznitz serves as the Munk Chair of Innovation Studies at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy. Professor Breznitz is also the Co-Director of the Innovation Policy Lab and a Senior Fellow of Messi College. He is currently the Clifford Clarke Economist at the Federal Department of Finance. He is the author of two award winning books and recently published his third, Innovation in Real Places: Strategies for Prosperity in an Unforgiving World, in which he offers pragmatic advice while debunking dangerous myths on innovation, growth and prosperity. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
