One of the greatest changes with the 2024 Toyota RAV4 is the introduction of the RAV4 GR Sport. This is a car that is going to change the entire RAV4 lineup, giving us a sport variant. And it is safe to say that this sport version of the RAV4 has been long overdue.
Now, the RAV4 plug-in hybrid is introducing a higher grade for 2024, and it will become the latest model in Toyota’s range to offer a GR Sport version. The first notable thing about the 2024 Toyota RAV4 GR Sport is the styling. It has a styling flavor that has been influenced by the multi-world championship-winning Toyota Gazoo Racing. This brings about sharper looks inside and out, all blended with a prestige equipment specification.
It also has to look mean, which is why the designers saw it best to give the 19-inch black alloy wheels a double-five-spoke design. This is further enhanced by the fine, brightly machined pinstripe detailing. With all these designs, the car just screams sport everywhere it goes.
When it comes to the powertrain, we can say that the Toyota RAV4 has a reputation for a pretty powerful powertrain. At the moment, most of the variants come with a powertrain that ranges somewhere within a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine. This is an engine that is powerful enough to produce about 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. All the power produced here is transmitted to the necessary parts through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
All the RAV4 trims come with front-wheel drive as standard, apart from the Adventure and TRD Off-Road. The two latter variants come with all-wheel drive as standard. On the other hand, the LE, XLE, and XLE Premium have the option of coming with a simple all-wheel drive system. As for the more complex AWD setup, it comes with the Adventure, Limited, and TRD Off-Road trims, which also come with torque vectoring and can disconnect the rear axle to improve fuel economy.
For the RAV4 GR Sport, the all-wheel plug-in hybrid electric powertrain is not being changed at all. It will still deliver a strong combination of high power and high efficiency.
At the end of the day, the powertrain used in the 2024 Toyota RAV4 GR Sport will be capable of producing up to 302 bhp or 225 kW. This is 38 percent more than the RAV4 Hybrid produces.
When it comes to the interior, the RAV4 GR Sport now comes with a sportier one. The cabin sports front seats that are finished in a tactile, suede-effect dark gray upholstery with synthetic leather bolsters.
Similarly, the full RAV4 plug-in hybrid range adopts a more comprehensive Toyota Safety Sense package of safety and driver assistance systems. This includes some functions such as emergency steering assistance and an enhanced pre-collision system.
The main purpose of this specification is to build on the design grade, which provides a power tailgate, smart entry, and push-button start. You also get a reversing camera and front parking sensors to help you park your car in tight spaces.
The 2024 Toyota RAV4 GR Sport will be a really nice addition to the RAV4 lineup, bringing about a sporty feeling that people love. And with that, there might be a lot of people who opt for this variant, especially those who love speed.
