BPD is misdiagnosed as bipolar disorder more often than you think. In this week's episode, Sammy describes what it feels like & how she finally reached the right diagnosis.

Nearly 40% of people with borderline personality disorder are initially misdiagnosed with bipolar disorder, according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). In this episode, Sammy Grimm walks us through what it was like when her BPD was misdiagnosed as bipolar disorder.

She answers:
When did you go seek an initial diagnosis (which ended up being a misdiagnosis)?
What was your process of seeking that diagnosis? (What doctor did you see, etc.)
Why do you think you were misdiagnosed?
What were the signs you were misdiagnosed?
What do you think affected your diagnosis or confused you in seeking out the right treatment?
What type of medication did you take when misdiagnosed?
What effect did that have on you?
In 2016 you felt like you hit a wall with your treatment and the stress felt overwhelming. What triggered that?
