During the making of Superman vs Hulk Part 4 I would upload a work in progress version every few months or so to kind of keep track of progress. Here is one of the first early, very rough drafts in which I only have the first half of what would be the final video somewhat blocked out. I normally don't like to show work in progress but figure why not try and earn a few dollars from some of the unused and deleted footage. Some shots here and there are not bad and it's kind of fun to see the progression and evolution of the action, kind of like looking at drawings you made as a kid. Terrible but kind of interesting to see.

This was a couple months in to animating after having spent a couple of months revamping the character models and rigs. I knew I wanted the whole video to be of sky fighting action where Superman would have a chance to be more in his element and give me a chance to do some flying animations which are a lot of fun. I thought it would be about a 4 min video, longer than the previous ones, show some struggle in the air and come back down, but eventually would end up almost 6 min long. I thought it would take a year and half but turned out to take four years, as more ideas would only come much later.

The fighting in the air was much more difficult. After having only animated them relatively stationary on the ground it was a major switch to have to animate them moving around through the sky at sonic speeds and I was still very much trying to figure how to convey that. In the previous videos was easier to shoot reference of myself doing some of the action to work out the animation, where as in this video that was not really possible because of the constant movement in the sky. Was still figuring out how to use Terragen, the environment modeling software that I used to make all earth terrain and clouds. A lot of it is unrendered Maya playblasts as I was eager to try and edit the various shots together and work out the dramatic beats.
