I've long wanted to carve a plague doctor, and the previous project helped me find the simplest method (   • This is a CROW but a little different  ).
First, I whittle the mask and hat, then the shoes and bag, and finally, I carve the hands. I burn the surface of the wood with fire and paint it black.
For wood carving, I used a piece of branch and my regular whittling knife. The block is 75mm in height and 25-30mm in diameter.
