One of the most anticipated rallies of the season is here in Leominster as the Roger Albert Clark Rally (10-13 November) pitches 95 rally crews against the forests of Wales, Northumberland and Scotland.

This epic four-day challenge is the biggest challenge in British special stage rallying for more than 20 years and has a particular focus on cars from up to 1981.

With over 100 entries confirmed, including at least 15 from mainland Europe, the event is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about rallies on the year. Competitors will tackle 300 stage miles in Wales, England and Scotland, taking in many classic forest special stages.

The rally HQ, including pre-event documentation and technical checks, is being hosted by Brightwells Auctions. The huge event is expected to put more than £100,000 into the local economy at what is usually a quiet time of the year for the local tourism industry. Scrutineering of the rally vehicles at Brightwells began yesterday (Thursday).

The competitive action begins this morning at the historic and spectacular setting of Shelsley Walsh for two short, sharp stages at the fabulous Worcestershire speed hillclimb venue. The cars will be attacking the famous hill in both directions. The cars return to Brightwells in the late afternoon for a main service halt before the entire event moves north.
