An unexploded Nazi bomb which was discovered in a back garden in Plymouth has been driven through the streets and taken out to sea for disposal.

Hundreds of residents were evacuated from their homes as the military removed the 500kg explosive, which is believed to date back to the Second World War.

According to the Ministry of Defence, the device is now submerged at a "safe depth" in the sea and Royal Navy divers will plant an explosive charge on it within the next 24 hours.
