The brain is a highly adaptive organ that constantly adjusts its connections and pathways based on experiences. In addiction, repeated exposure to drugs or certain behaviors can lead to changes in the brain's reward circuitry and the release of neurotransmitters like dopamine, which reinforces the addictive behavior.
