This video shows a ultrasonic cleaner and the results you can get cleaning car parts with little to no effort.
Please note this is not an instructional video on how to use one, several steps are skipped to keep the video shorter.

The main benefits of ultrasonic cleaners are that you can pretty much just put the part in and walk away, come back an hour later and the part is almost spotless.

Do not fully submerge parts that have electrical components or like in the video, the EGR valve has a vacuum diaphragm that was kept above the water level.

In almost all cases its better to use a basket, direct contact with the bottom of the cleaner can change the frequency at which it operates and decrease the cleaning effect while increasing the cleaning time and possibly damaging the cleaner itself.

If your cleaner comes with a lid, i would also recommend using the lid to keep the temperature at the required temperature while using less power. They can struggle to maintain higher temperatures if required with out one.

Unlike in the video, i would recommend taking away larger build ups of soot, carbon and residue first with a blunt instrument so as not to scratch the component you are cleaning. I left it on in the video to show just how good the cleaner is, however this drastically increases cleaning time and makes the cleaning solution less effective.

The only real draw back i have noticed from using the ultrasonic cleaner is it can tarnish / discolour some metals and alloys leaving a slight tide mark when used on some components. This does improve with with lower temperatures and a much shorter second cleaning cycle using fresh water and solution. It may also be due to the fact that i am using it incorrectly, i have had no training on the use of them.

Again please note, this is not an instructional video.
