I review the Wuben E7. I've seen cameras and other electronics with modular attachments that can be added on, and there are some flashlights that have switch modules... but Wuben is taking this to a whole new level.

The AP40 module which can be purchased separately allows you to control the light by waving your hand in various ways. It plugs into the USB-C port. This opens up a world of possibilities for additional modules that add different LED sources (e.g. infrared/red/UV), or other survival modules like solar power, and Geiger counter. I'm hoping to see where this all goes, and more innovative designs from Wuben.

This light was sent to me by Wuben for the purpose of review. I was not paid to make this video, nor have I held back on any negative opinions of this light.

Wuben E7 Transcript:

Overall Construction, LED, lens, bezel and reflector
β€’ Cyberpunk design that makes it look like something from a sci-fi movie. Angular with lots of interesting cutouts. Thankfully there are no sharp edges. The anodizing is smooth and slightly glossy. It's still grippy. Steel clip is screwed on the back, and allows you to deep carry the light. I like this clip better than the one on the X-O which was too rigid.
β€’ Charging port on the top of the light, under a rubber gasket. The power button is also on the head and is large and made of aluminum.
β€’ Where many manufacturers go for the SST40, Wuben have chosen to add 2x P9 LEDs. These are incredibly efficient and manage to achieve close to 2000 lumens in the E7. 2X TIR lenses - slightly recessed with a rectangular bezel/retainer.
β€’ The E7 comes with a 18350 cell that can be easily removed by unscrewing the tailcap. The threads aren't anodized, so you won't be able to mechanically lock the light out. Also, don't screw the cap on too tightly or you'll spend 10 minutes trying to get it open like I did. The extension tube is a great addition as it allows you to triple the battery life with an 18650 cell. The AP40 Inductor connects via the USB port on the top of the light. Really cool, feels like I'm using some high-tech military gear!
β€’ Headband is one of the most satisfying to use by far. I love how the light slots in perfectly and locks. No fiddling around with rubber rings. You can also swivel the light up and down in the mount. To release the light, you just pull a tab on the side.

UI - modes
β€’ For the AP40 - move your hand in front of the sensor to simulate one 'click' - you can access all the above UI in this manner.

Considerations
β€’ At the time of making this video, wuben includes the headband. But if you want the other functions like the gesture sensor and extension tube, you'll need to purchase the other accessories separately.
β€’ Rubber gaskets are a bit annoying with too much play when open. It's also a bit tricky to unscrew the light as there's so little material to grasp onto - don’t screw it on too tight!
β€’ Smaller details like the quality of the anodizing and bare threads. But it doesn't affect the performance of the light.
β€’ No other configs? Would have liked other LED options, even a red/white LED combo. UI would need to be updated though.

Verdict
One of the most versatile headlamp/flashlight combinations out there. Wuben is time and time again pushing the boundaries of the traditional flashlight. The E7 really does it all at a price point that almost anyone can afford. I recommend getting the accessories as this expands the different scenarios in which you could use this light.
