Now there are quite a few ways to make money blogging, some better than others, but I wanted to give you the full look at all the possibilities as you’re heading into your blogging journey.

Let’s start with ads: This is probably my least favorite way to make money blogging, because it heavily relies on building a massive audience. Basically you get paid per impression whenever a user is on your site and an ad is shown. And most of the time, you don’t get paid much.

The second way to make money blogging is Affiliate Marketing: This is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE way to make money blogging. This is when you’re paid for getting clicks, sales, or signups for products/services. You’re not necessarily writing ONLY about what you are marketing (but you can), and it’s a pretty passive way to make money. But you need to put in work up front, find the brands you want to be an affiliate for, and create an audience.

The third way to make money blogging is with Sponsorships: This means a company or brand pays you to either write about their product/service, or can also pay a monthly fee to have some ad space on your site (more so though, it’s the former).
Sponsorships are awesome because you don’t have to be some major influencer to do them. If you have the right audience, and the right company to work with, you can make it happen. You can also do as many or as little as you want.

#4 Digital Products: Digital products are things like ebooks, printables, courses, classes, societies, etc. These generally are helping the reader accomplish something, so they are buying your information (or your expertise) in the form of what’s listed above. This means running a full-blown ecommerce operation.
While these take a decent amount of work up front, if you have the right information, the right audience and a platform you sell it on (yes, I mean a blog), then you can make some SERIOUS money. It can also be passive, but out of all the options listed here, it’s probably the most difficult because it requires the most thinking.
#5 Physical Products: Selling physical products online is now easier than ever. You might say, but Doug if you’re selling a physical product then are you really blogging to make money?

Yes! You are because your blog is driving traffic to sell that product. Your blog can also be all about the uses, features, and lifestyle surrounding your product. Your blog is a content marketing tool for your physical product business.

#6 Services: The final way to make money blogging is to offer a service of some sort. Similar to the physical products point, your blog is a content marketing tool for your services business.

A significant difference in blogging for physical products and blogging for services has to do with the blog design. Blogging for services will require stronger call to actions to sign up for something or make contact through a form on the site. On the other hand, physical products can go just straight to the landing page.
