Two Spanish warships depart Portsmouth, UK to join the rest of the fleet at sea, participating in Exercise Steadfast Defender.

The ESPS Alvaro De Bazan (F101) is first in it's class of Air Defence Frigates and was commissioned in 2002. F101 departed ahead of the ESPS Reina Sofia (F84), a Santa Maria-class frigate commissioned in 1990.

Both were visiting His Majesty's Naval Base Portsmouth along with two other ships of the Spanish Armada, with a further three more in nearby Southampton. All videos of which can be found at the link below.

Exercise Steadfast Defender is the largest NATO exercise to be held since the Cold War. Over 90,000 troops are participating with over 1,200 combat vehicles, over 80 aircraft and over 50 naval assets from all 32 allies, including Sweden.
