MIFUMI’s survivor support structures started in the early 2000’s as survivor support groups and women’s safety forums. Members of these groups were the first emergency safety and protection contacts for other survivors experiencing violence and abuse. Today, with continued capacity building from MIFUMI, members from these groups have emerged as confident and courageous community Women Rights Champions continuing to offer voluntary services as Domestic Violence Advisors to women and children experience violence and abuse; and rights advocates at community structures.
