Israel's military has taken control of the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing in Gaza.

In a briefing with journalists, an Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman said Israeli soldiers were now on the ground inside Rafah, Gaza's southern-most city, with troops scanning the area, backed up by tank forces.
