In honor of the 20th anniversary of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, the Academy will host a virtual celebration with the artists behind the movie on August 9th, 2021.

Hosted by Broadway Singer, Film/TV Actor Peppermint. With special guests writer-director-actor John Cameron Mitchell, composer-writer-actor Stephen Trask, actor Miriam Shor, costume designer Arianne Phillips, cinematographer Frankie DeMarco and makeup artist Mike Potter. Plus special bonus features with film editor Andrew Marcus and music supervisor Alex Steyermark

The films surprising journey as an improvised performance at a punk-rock drag party in Soho that evolved into a groundbreaking off-Broadway rock musical that then became a trailblazing Hollywood cult classic has cemented a unique place for Hedwig and the Angry Inch in LGBTQ film history. Now for the movie’s 20th anniversary, join John Cameron Mitchell and the cast and crew as they celebrate HEDWIG and trace the development and design of the iconic genderqueer East German glam-rock diva.
