Despite its status as the world's most popular electric vehicle the Nissan LEAF still divides opinion. Some love it for its bold engineering and enjoyable ride, whilst others just can't see past its quirky looks.

However, this second-generation model might convince the doubters with improvements to design and range whilst offering some impressive new technology that will make drivers feel like they're at the cutting edge of automotive technology.

For all these improvements, however, ownership is still restricted to those with off-street overnight parking. Whilst that might limit its appeal now, all-electric motoring is growing at a rapid pace - as is charging infrastructure. With that in mind, the Nissan LEAF is well ahead of the game and might just be the right car at the right time.
