The 2021 Lexus IS looks brand new. It isn't though. The brand has done a heavy facelift to "reimagine" the IS model, as Lexus Australia puts it.
Yep, it might look pretty different all around, but this is actually a significant facelift of the old IS, not an all-new car. That means this particular generation of IS has been around since 2013, and while it has been upgraded over the years, the formula for this new-look version remains very similar - it’s a luxury sedan, with a few different engine options and an aggressive look that’s seemingly a little at odds with its luxurious intent.
There is new technology and safety gear, but carryover powertrains. The drive experience has been reworked, but the interior hasn't.
So does it have what it takes to stay competitive in the luxury sedan landscape against the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Volvo S60, Genesis G70 and Peugeot 508?
Let’s run through what’s changed with the 2021 Lexus IS.
