The Sun Newspaper + Telegraph both wrote: ‘’Swindon man beats The Mountain to Europe's Strongest Man title’

The underdog story was so popular, even Mike Tyson retweeted it, and praised the much smaller Swindon-based Dad

Well, Laurence Shahlaei, aka Big Loz, stepped up to the impossible task.

BUT this contest looked finished British star Eddie Hall pulled out after Event 1

Hall was 1 of 2 favourites for the 2016 title, but Hall’s deadlift of 500kg in event 1 totally exhausted him and he pulled out.

This meant the main Favourite + 2 x European Champion - Hafthor Julius Bjornsson was left in an almost unbeatable position.

Despite his power and size he had a points lead from the deadlift and there were just 4 events to go.

What happened next was a shock for many.

This is one of the most epic performances in strongman.

BIG LOZ (or even UNCLE LOZ nowadays) hadn't won his National title for 3 years,

Shahlaei was giving up 7 inches and 50 kilos (110 lbs) to the Icelandic and twice European Champion.

Thor - as he is often known - stands 6 foot 9 inches tall and at that time weighed in at over 420lbs
