The new Bolt has a more upscale appearance and more up-to-date technology, but its pricing is what really sells it. The 2022 Chevrolet Bolt E V gets a fresh appearance and some new technology, but that's about it. However, when you consider the lesser improvements to the quality of life and the lower starting price (around $5,500 less than last year), the Bolt starts to look like a really good deal.

First and foremost, there is an entirely new front fascia that swaps the fun toy-like design of the previous model for something more mature and sophisticated. The Bolt's huge eyes were replaced by narrow LED trademark lights. the LED headlamps have been relocated to the area previously occupied by the fog lights. The Chevrolet Trailblazer, which also has this trick up its sleeve, offers the impression of concept car headlights during the day while providing ample night time illumination.

There is an angular slash of gloss black trim connecting the two light clusters, which frames the grille of the Bolt. Rear-end design changes include slimmer taillights and a simpler oval contour to better match the hatchback's rear glass, which replaces the 3D squiggles of last year's model. There is a wider amount of black plastic in the bumper that raises the back end optically, as well as a slimmer reflector bar and a repositioned reverse light.

Even more substantial renovations have been made to the cabin. The new centre console on the 2022 Bolt joins more seamlessly to the dashboard than the old floating design did. The shift lever has been replaced by a vertical bank of PRND buttons and a specialised one pedal driving mode button. Additionally, the new shifter is positioned forward of the cup holders, making them considerably easier to access.
