Two very unique cars in this video (1947 Tims Special shown in video thumbnail).

The MacMinn LMC (LeMans Coupe) was a dream by Strother MacMinn who in 1958 envisioned what an American LeMans coupe racing at the 24 hours of LeMans would look like. Strother MacMinn was an art professor at the Art Center College of Design in California and made 7 bodies (3 were actually built and running + the one you see here in 2024), the first car was featured on at 1958 cover of Road and Track magazine, the second car became a drag racer which was raced by Walter Jackson under “Witchcraft” and I believe the third car ended up in a field in California which became this car (using period correct parts/looking period correct and an authentic 1957 Corvette 283ci motor and transmission).

The 1947 Timbs Special was made by Norman Timbs (he worked for Tucker Automobiles and designed the Halibrand racing rim) who envisioned an American custom car with the essence of the late 1930s Auto Union and Mercedes Streamliner record cars. It featured a longitudinal Buick inline 8 (straight 8 to some) and buick gearbox connected by a u-joint to the rear axle (kind of like the Chevy Cheetah racing car of the 1960s). This car can be very briefly seen in the remake of the Gone in 60 Seconds Movie with Nicolas Cage. It was restored in 2010 and featured in the Road and Track Cover Cars class at the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance in which it debuted. It also went to the 2012 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. In 2018 during the California Malibu wild fires (the owner was on vacation) it was almost practically destroyed (76 other cars and bikes of the owner were totally destroyed). It has been restored a second time sourced the exact original parts Norman Timbs used.
