In episode 1 of our Coos Bay Sand Dunes adventure series we arrive at Coos Bay, a massive set of sand dunes located on the Oregon Coast which host thousands of acres of open riding area to explore. Our trip starts off a little bumper as we try to drag two toy hauler trailers out on the sand to enjoy a bit of dispersed sand camping. It took some doing but thanks to our extrication gear from usaropeoffroad.com we were able to eventually make it to camp. The first full day at the dunes was epic. We toured the sand dunes on quads and in my Polaris Rzr Pro Xp4. But when the belt blew on the RZR we decided we should take @TaylorGibleroffroad new Colorado Zr2 for a spin in the sand. That's when things took a turn for the worse. After noticing that the ZR2 suspension was quite impressive, Taylor decided he wanted to see how well his new truck could jump. We found a seemingly harmless kicker and drove over it a few times, each time with increasing speed. The truck never left the ground, that's when I suggested we should try going over the jump in the opposite direction. Turns out that was bad idea. As the chevy flew through the air the nose pitched down and slammed hard into the sand.
