In our work life everything has structure and purpose, so when we go away from all of that we want to live in the moment, which often means no real plan at all. The plan is....NO PLAN.

Sometimes a foo foo vacation is fun, but for us getting away from it all isn't about spending a crap-load of cash in a casino, or at a resort, or on airfare, or any of the other "you're supposed to do this on vacation" myths we are programmed to believe. We just find an isolated place, point the jeep in that direction and GO.

In this episode we do what we do best. OFF GRID! For Maggie and I, vacations are about getting in touch with the very essence of life - nature, fresh air, a quiet place for introspection, and a sparsely formed schedule that allows for tons of spontaneous adventures. Although we had a few creature comforts on this one, we found ourselves in between two road closures on a ghost highway in an off-grid home on 8 acres. Paradise comes in many forms.
