On Thursday, the National Weather Service reported the first tornado to hit Wisconsin in February, just south of Madison near the Dane and Rock county border. This tornado was part of a storm system bringing hail, lightning, and severe winds to southern Wisconsin. The service issued a warning around 6:00 p.m., advising immediate shelter due to the storm's danger. Meteorologist Andrew Quigley stated that the assessment of damage and determination of tornado severity would begin Friday morning. The tornado was initially sighted near Albany and moved northeast toward Stoughton. A tornado warning for parts of Dane, Jefferson, and Rock counties was issued and ended around 6:45 p.m.
