Adelaide-based Tindo Solar is Australia's only solar panel manufacturer.

The CEO Richard Petterson says Austalia can establish a competitive manufacturing industry on shore and the government's announcement is a significant step forward in making that a reality.

He does not think Australia will be able to outpace China on price but he believes the value and quality of home-made products will give Australia a market edge.
