What is amazing about this modification is that you will be producing LESS WEAR ON YOUR CLUTCH. An unnatural throw means you will be harsher on your clutch, eating away at the liner on your clutch disk.

If you have a modern manual transmission car, you might have a ‘clutch helper spring’. It is designed to make the throw of the clutch pedal linear, however the main drawback is that it makes the pedal feel numb, resulting in a very unnatural feel when driving manual. A simple google search will show you that many Nissans, Infinitis, Scions, Mustangs, and even Porsche’s have them. Plenty of vehicles are made with them, yet many enthusiasts remove them or swap them out to get remove/ reduce the numbness.

There are 3 different approaches to changing the feeling from the engagement point of the clutch pedal;
Approach 1 - Remove the helper spring entirely
Approach 2 - Change out the stock helper spring, with a spring with a different rate
Approach 3 - Replace the stock clutch pedal with an adjustable one.

Approach 1 is pretty much the same with every vehicle and you don’t need to purchase any tools to get this done. Approach 2 is different with every car, as you will need a spring with the same length, similar ID and OD, however a lower spring rate. Approach 3 is vehicle specific since you will need to find a clutch pedal that is made for your car for it to be an easy installation.
