Our review of the Ranger drops 03/19 and the Raptor 03/21.

Ford has reengineered each aspect of the new Ranger including its frame, suspension, powertrains, connectivity and advance driver assist software. Ford engineers improved the truck’s fully boxed high strength steel frame with the wheelbase and track both stretched about two inches to provide more bed space and improved stability while remaining easy to navigate on trails.

There are three powertrain options, the base engine is a carryover powertrain, a 2.3L turbocharged 4-cylinder with a 10-speed automatic transmission, 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. There’s the available and new 2.7L twin turbocharged V6 which produces 315 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. In Canada standard 4WD and in the US, 2WD and 4WD options are available.

There is the more powerful Raptor with a 3L Ecoboost V6, 405 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. Full-time 4WD. Premium fuel is recommended.

In Canada, the Ranger XL starts at $44,065 CAD, XLT $48,315 CAD, Lariat $56,515 CAD and the Raptor $80,140 CAD.
