HOW TO MAKE AND USE AN EMOTION WHEEL // Making your own Emotion Wheel is a powerful tool for self-awareness and emotional regulation. This art therapy activity is great for getting students to talk about their feeling and identifying their emotions. Using this SEAL tool is sure to help students with their social-emotional learning (SEL).

Learning emotional intelligence through the arts, Social-Emotional Artistic Learning is an effective way of integrating the arts with SEL. Allowing students the opportunity to make and use an emotion wheel is a great way to build relationships and show your students that you care! It will also help them to reduce anxiety, talk about their emotions and it's all done through creativity in the classroom. Not to mention, you can share this video with your remote students and give them the opportunity to make and use an emotion wheel at home too.

I hear it from my teacher friends all the time: You’re in survival mode - working twice as hard now than ever before, constantly trying to learn new technologies and ways to bring your content to your students. All while trying to build relationships with your students through the mask and screen.

But here’s the thing. . . you can make some simple, creative tweaks in the work you are doing with your students that will leave you feeling like you’re making a real difference in your students’ lives.

That’s what happened to Gail, an elementary teacher who implemented a couple of creative strategies to build community in her remote classroom. And what happened? Her students started to open up and thrive - even through a screen!

What did Gail do? She attended my free workshop and tried out the activities she learned!
